We awake early. We go to walk the beach. The sun is already up but it's much cooler toady - nice for walking. The tide is very high and there is masses of seaweed coming in. They clear the beach each morning but this is excessive! There looks to be grass and pine needles, you can't walk along the waters edge. We make our way along the beach. It's very hard going, deep sand. It's a good workout for your legs and bum! We decide not to walk on further to Hollywood. It's not really very pleasant to walk there. Clive has never seen it so bad.
Back to the pool we go. Only ones in there again, but a young guy studying at one of the tables. We have a swim and do some walking - it is so relaxing! We will try and swim again before we leave.
We have a very late breakfast. Clive starts to organise all the paperwork. He has so much to print - hope the printer behave's - like most men looses patients with it very quickly! I decide to go to the shops and get a few things I need and a few items to restock the larder for Clive's return. I seem to have decimated it! He is hoping to do some work on his return. I ask him to pick me up when I have shopped - he does. I manage to buy a few gifts - hope I can get it all in my bag!
We have dinner and watch Weeds.

Day 47. Tuesday
We enjoy a leisurely breakfast and talk over the 'Day Out'. Even though Clive's has done this trip three times before, he still enjoys it. There are also still some stops that we didn't manage to do - that's for another day! We also found some other lovely restaurants on the Canal. They will certainly be worth a visit.
We start to try and get organised for Saturday. Clive is getting clothes out to pack. He is very used to this travelling, he can pack really light ( unlike me! ). I am hoping to have room to get some gifts for the Grandchildren. I have to check out my allowance for customs.
I make a corn beef hash type thing for dinner - Clive loves corn beef! It was good. ( I can guess my kids reaction!!). I think food - and possibly drink, or lack of it - is our main difference. We have a great time together but meals are a bit of a problem. He has the best intentions to give healthier food a try - until he actually has to eat it! He is really looking forward to Jamaica! Also the ship, he can select his own choices!
Last minute shopping list to make and then get packing!

Day 46. ' Good things are worth waiting for'
They say good things are worth waiting for! Today was one of those. We left home about 10am. We drive to Ft. Lauderdale. It not far from us. We only have a short wait and a Water Taxi arrives. We have decided to do the long trip down to Hollywood this morning. They are forecasting rain this pm. Think it was a good choice! It a lovely trip. The sun is shining and there is a real holiday atmosphere about the place. They call Ft. Lauderdale the Venice of America. It has so many waterways, and homes built right on the waters edge. Million and even billion dollar homes and boats. You cannot begin to comprehend the wealth of these people.
We are on the boat for almost two hours. We pass Dania Beach and The John U Lloyd State Park. We pass Jimbo's Sand Bar - one for my family when they come. It's right on the waters edge. Boats pull along side and the people get off for food and drinks. It's just so casual and relaxed. We make our way to Hollywood. It's great to see everything from the other side. ( on the waterway). It's all built on a spit of land between the Ocean and The Waterways. We decide to stay on the boat and go back to Ft. Lauderdale to eat. They give a commentary as you are travelling along. Lots of the older homes were built in the 60s. They were built for stars like Cher, George Hamilton, Connie Francis and old movie stars.
The sky is getting BLACK! We know we are in for a storm. We ask the boat attendant for advise where to eat. We get there just in time! The heaven's open! She had made a great choice. The place was ' buzzing'. Great food, great service and good fun. We all say we will go there again! It was called Coconut's!
We time it well again. The rain has almost stopped and we get back to our Taxi stop. We are all tired. We decide to make our way back to the car and home.
It was a great day out! Clive's family are good company.

Day 45 Plans change again.
It's Sunday of the Holiday weekend. The sun is shining and we are off to The Water Taxi at 10am. I was lucky to get a deal on Groupon 2 4 1! ( still looking for a bargain )
We had missed a call from Clive's sister yesterday so he had phoned her back. She asked what we were doing on Monday. She was not working and thought we could get together. I suggested we change our plans, we could do the Taxi tomorrow! That's what we decide to do. We have lots of organising to do for our trip. Everything has to be ready by Friday eve, as we leave 6am on Saturday.
I FaceTime Leah and family. It was good to see them all. Oscar has now got County Trials for cricket! I'm sure he will do well. Clive was taking a nap so missed seeing them. Think the boys were disappointed. Clive was sorry to have missed them. We plan to FaceTime then at the end of the week.
We have decided not to buy in more food for the week. It's great, it means we will be eating out all week! - well that's I thought. Burger King! My first burger in US.

Day 44. Saturday. A day at the beach
We had decided to go on The Water Taxi today. We had planned to get up early and get down to the stop about 10am.
During the early hours of the morning I heard Clive up and about. He had gone to bed early the evening before. I checked with him that he was ok - which he was. He said he thought we would have the day at the beach, he had reading he needed to do about marketing. I was surprised after our plans but I'm ok with it, we can go on Sunday.
We get to the beach by 10am. Set ourselves up in the shade of the pier. Clive had purchased these great folding chairs. They are the telescopic ones, but the have a leg rest and sun umbrella! They are great. Cup holders and pockets everywhere. I had packed a picnic. We had a very relaxing day.
Seem to spend most of the evening watching the news. Luckily Obama is not making a decision on the war until after the 9th. We will be on the ship then! I had also heard on the news, there was an earthquake registering 7 on the Richter Scale in Alaska! Dangers all around us it seems.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring?
