Raining this morning. Decided to crack on with the book! Only 7 hrs to go!
After lunch we decided to go and collect Clive's mail and get some Mayo. Well, Clive decided he wanted to buy Salt Cod, to make a Jamaican meal! They didn't have it at the supermarket, so off we set, almost to Miami to the Jamaican supermarket! On the way he said he was suddenly hungry, so we would get Jamaican Patties and Cocoa Bread as a snack. Then he said there was a restaurant there so we could eat there. We ended up ordering cooked meals to take away - namely, Curry Goat, Oxtail and Cow Foot all served up with Rice & Peas ( which are beans). Whilst that was being prepared we bought Salt Cod, Fresh Callaloo and Scotch Bonnet Pepper - I've told Clive that's a rubber glove job - for his cooking and then Patties and Bread for a snack ! Help, it was like a curry meat pasty in a bread roll. We ate them in the car. When we got home we had Curry Goat! Enough food for one day.
After the meal, another couple chapters of the book. Then I spotted the turtles all sunbathing on the grass. We had thought there was only two but about five were there. So off we went to take some photos. By the time we got downstairs they had all gone back in the water. Never mind, we collected two Mango's and a Pawpaw off the trees. So not a fruitless outing after all.
Movie tonight. My favourite Pride and Prejudice.
So how did you get on with the Jamaican diet? Sounds like life is pretty idyllic, so pleased you're having a good time.
ReplyDeleteAll good here too; the heatwave is back today (after a few cooler days) I think they give it around 30 degrees. It was already 23 when I walked Tilly at 7am.
Oscar is doing his watersports week at Bray Lake and having the best time ever enjoying windsurfing, kayaking and sailing. At the start of the week he fell off the windsurf around 40 times and after three days only fell off 4 times and surfed across the whole lake! He comes home exhausted and full of stories. He's very excited as he's got a match for the Under 11's cricket team tonight.
Charlie made his debut in the under 15's last night, and did really well. They won, and he got to bat the last over and scored 5 runs. The bowling was a lot harder than he is used to (harder than the seniors probably) so he did well. It was good experience for him.
Only 2 weeks til Italy which is fantastic, can't wait to see all those beautiful sights again. We're planning on going to Siena and San Gimignano this time, and drink lots of amazing wine obviously!
Take care, speak soon. Send our best to Clive too.
